Abu Marwan ibn Zuhr (also known as Ibn Zuhr, Avenzoar, Abumeron or Ibn-Zohr) (1091 - 1161) was an Andalusian physician who wrote the earliest known scientific work on diet, the Kitab al-aghdhiyah (The Book of Diet), penning the important therapeutic role that food plays.
